Discover Ahmedabad, a beautiful city in India

Ahmedabad is a beautiful city in India. This city is also the largest city in the state of Gujarat, more precisely the seventh in terms of population. In order to avoid inconveniences at your departure and throughout your trip, some tips are essential.

Why visit the city of Ahmedabad?

This chaotic city has countless reasons to be visited, in the form of monuments, lakes, gardens and spectacular havelis (mansions). All together, they will help us understand the history of this place. We must emphasize the strength of Bhadra. It is one of the oldest fortresses of the city, built in 1411 by none other than Shah Alam, the founder of the city. Among other things, the fortress has a beautiful temple dedicated to the goddess Bhadrakali, hence its name. The site also occupies no less than 44 acres, including a large and beautiful garden. The Rani Rupmati Mosque is another of the most visited and most expected places during a visit to the city. It is one of the oldest mosques in the city and is located in the northern part of the city. It is an example of the combination of several architectures such as Hinduism and Muslim. It was built between 1430 and 1440 and has three large vaults supported by magnificent pillars. The name of this monument is given by the Hindu wife of Sultan Mahmud Begado, a lady whose remains lie on the right side of the mosque. This is not the only interesting mosque, as there are also others such as the Jama mosque. It is located in the heart of the old city and was built by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1423, distinguishing itself by its architecture based on yellow sandstone and the mixture of Hindu and Islamic art. It has 260 pillars supporting up to 15 vaults of different heights, which has earned it the reputation of being the most beautiful mosque in all of India. If we go to Ahmebadad, we should also visit the Sabarmati Ashram. It is one of the residences of Mohandas Karmchand Gandhi, who lived there for twelve years with his wife, Kasturba Gandhi, and has now become a museum that tells us about this character. If we want to spend peaceful moments in this city, this will also be possible; and this is because we can visit gardens and natural corners such as Lake Kankaria, the zoo, Lake Vastrapur and the Parimal Garden, among others. Furthermore, we should not forget that near Ahmedabad we will find very interesting places like Lothal, a settlement more than 4,000 years old, or the Dabhoi Fort, one of the best preserved examples of Indian military architecture. This is undoubtedly a trip full of cultural contrasts, a great dose of history and a lot of architectural and scenic beauty.
